A Little About Tipp City, Ohio
John Clark founded Tippecanoe City in 1840 beside the developing Miami and Erie Canal. The name honored William Henry Harrison’s “Tippecanoe” nickname; it was shortened to Tipp City in 1938 to avoid confusion with another Ohio community.
Area high schools: Tippecanoe High School and nearby Bethel High School.
What makes Tipp City special: Tipp City is recognized for its preserved canal-era downtown, dry canal locks, community parks and local shops and restaurants along Main Street.
